Flash-back from the past, one of my favorite macaron projects!

Bewitching Kitchen

It all started with a very innocent email from my daughter-in-law. Inside a simple phrase and a single picture… The phrase: Something for you to try… The picture: a gorgeous Minnie Macaron sold at Disney. Miss G, our grand-daughter is crazy about all things Minnie. Basically, the universe conspired to make me  bake a batch.

MINNIE MACARONS
(from the Bewitching Kitchen)

for the shells:
198 g powdered sugar
113 g almond meal
113 g egg whites at room temperature
a pinch of cream of tartar
100 g granulated sugar
Pink Gel color from AmeriColor
2 drops vanilla extract

for the filling:
280 g strawberries, stems removed
140 g sugar
1 lemon, juiced
250 g white chocolate, chopped fine
1/3 cup heavy cream (about 80g)
1 tablespoon butter

to decorate:
pink bows (melted Candy Melts with a drop of pink gel color)
gold and pink sparkling sugar

    Thanks again for the book. Beautiful. The coffee tart is taking my eye! I was reading how the author went to Pierre Herme in Paris. We did too and then to the most amazing chocolate shop a few doors away who gave us taste tests of his incredible work but we had enough from Pierre’s shop and flying the next day so couldn’t take much more. Love Paris and stayed a few times now but it’s so far from Australia. So many wonderful memories.

    Oh and update on the flooded house of ours. Last week they put in the new kitchen and are now ripping it back out. They got it all wrong with the measurements. Crazy hey? Arggh! Never mind, should move in around beginning of September hopefully. Big party in the Hunter Valley vineyards first for MIL’s birthday 🙂

    Can’t wait to try something from the book when I get a chance. It’s amazing. He’s very talented for sure.

    • Yes, she did! the bows were so easy to make with those molds… they have all kinds, butterflies, leaves, flowers… I have to exercise a ton of control not to order a bunch! 😉
