I am so excited about it, I will offer a small token of appreciation to my readers.  Ottolenghi is about to publish a new cookbook, PLENTY MORE, so if you would like to have it, leave a comment on this post.  The giveaway is open to the whole wide world, by the way…

The comments will be open until September 22nd, and I will announce the winner the following day. Of course, shipping the book will depend on its release, as soon as I get it, it ships.

It’s been a ton of fun to keep this site going, and of course hitting this milestone gives me an extra boost of energy!

  5. Wow Sally, that is an amazing accomplishment, congratulations! Happy to have been a regular viewer to help push up the tally. As it happens tomorrow I am ordering a new bookcase to hold my cookbooks, the small one w/ two long shelves is inadequate to the task. So when it comes I will leave a place of honor for the new Ottolenghim where is can feel at home with the two others I have of his. I love that your commemorative giveaway is called Plenty More because you are certain to have plenty more page views on this blog!

  7. Congratulations, Sally! You have made a real impact in a field that is full to bursting with excellent blogs. It’s not just your carefully curated recipes, it’s your warmth and charm and your deft writing style. I’m always amazed, frankly, that your writing is so accomplished, especially since English is not your first language. I’m glad cooking is your hobby and you’ve chosen to share your love of all things food with us.

I have “Jerusalem” and “Plenty,” and they’re among my favorite cookbooks, so if I win the new one, I’ll be one happy cook!

  8. Just had to pretend for a moment I was not on my ‘fishing holiday’ to come back and warmly congratulate you on an incredible milestone. Taking into account your very busy lifestyle not only is it quite remarkable that you have had time, energy, enthusiasm and interest to gift us with one of the happiest and most interesting global food blogs but that you have kept it going for such a long time. Methinks you have deserved each ‘hit’ and we have been, are and hopefully will be very fortunate readers indeed! I love my ‘Jerusalem’ and will reach for it more and more as the Australian summer develops . . . . naturally it would be lovely to have one of its siblings at its side . . .

    • Thanks so much! Blogging is a great hobby for me because I love to write and love to cook – I think in the beginning it takes a lot of work and commitment, learning the tricks of everything behind composing and publishing a post. The famous “learning curve” – but in all honesty, it gets so much easier as time goes by, that it becomes pure pleasure.

Plus, I am not after a book deal, I am not after making money from the blog, those things could make blogging a lot more stressful. I do it for fun, and fun I do have 😉

  9. That’s an impressive number. Well done and congratulations on your tenacity and hard work. I adore Yotam Ottolenghi and hear that he is visiting Australia for Good Food Month in October. I already have three of his books. They’re all well read, dog eared and food stained – my constant kitchen companions yet there’s always room for another.

    • thank you! Yes, I heard he is going to Australia, I am sure there will be coverage of the whole thing in the internet at some point – such a wonderful chef!

  10. one million!! wow! congrats! I don’t know about the others, but I check in for your warm personality and sense of humour. The last post of yours that made me laugh out loud —and nod vigorously in agreement— was the mouse in the kitchen one. After reading your post, I wanted to go over and thump (again) the hubby on the head. There were signs of a rodent on the premises, but he refused to believe me till it was too late! Anyway, should you ever (touch wood!) get the same problem again, try Bayon brand “latest-generation” poison. We tried traps but it was way too smart. But it fell for the appetizing pellets and …succumbed. But not before a lot of panic, a lot of trepidation and tip-toeing around, a lot of reorganization of the kitchen, and like you, furious scrubbing away!
anyway, congrats again and here’s to another million more 🙂

    • *blushing, blushing still* – Well, the mouse horror is not over. I’ve got a pathetic new chapter to add to the rodent saga coming up soon. Very unfair twist of fate, which of course had to happen to me. Not the husband, ever.

      (Thanks for stopping by……. 😉

  26. Congratulations Sally…love your website. And I love Otto. I’ve been cooking from Jerusalem, and currently am growing a Sunchoke plant to make a chicken dish this fall from his book. I could not find Sunchokes here in town, so a grower at the Farmer’s Market gave me a start for the plant…it is huge, and should die back soon, THEN I can dig for the tubers. Can’t wait.
