ONLY ONE WEEK TO MOVING DAY!
Some women might wonder if a college town in the middle of Kansas will have fancy shoe stores, trendy clothing or jewelry. I am a lot more concerned with fresh produce, seafood, and unique flours. After our recent visit to “the other Manhattan”, something tells me we’ll be just fine! After all, as my friend Adele so cleverly stated:
“Happiness is a well stocked grocery store” 😉
Whole crabs, stone crab claws…. CHECK!
Steelhead trout, Alaskan cod? CHECK!
Ultra-marbled rib eye steaks? Premium beef? CHECK!
We’ll be able to make our own peanut or almond butter…
Tomatoes of all shapes and colors are waiting for us…
Special flours and grains sold in bulk, I can buy just what I need for that very special loaf of bread!
A market with every kind of Oriental noodles known to mankind!
Olives in bulk, including some type of green olives I’d never seen before…
Red Velvet apricots… not sure how good they are, but I love the name and their beautiful color…
Passion fruit, guava, and other exotic fruits. Not politically correct if you are into the local food movement, but… a food blogger’s dream!
Is there a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow? I think so! 😉
Dandelion greens? Not sure what to do with you yet, but…it’s so nice to meet you! 😉
And the icing on the cake: our future home is just 15 minutes away from this spectacular view, right at the outskirts of the Konza Prairie!
We are ready for this adventure!
ONE YEAR AGO: Majestic Sedona
TWO YEARS AGO: Watermelon-Induced Daze (we miss you, Pits…)
Looks like there’s going to be some very fine eating ahead. 🙂

Your friend Adele is one smart woman and the local market in what will be your new home, looks to be wonderful.
I’ll be thinking of you, Phil and the pups in the next weeks with positive thoughts. Moving is hectic, but I know you’ll manage just fine! Hugs.

That grocery store is stocked better than many of the ones in Manhattan! I don’t think you’ll be wanting for anything. 🙂

Oh Sally, I can’t believe you’re a week away from your big moving day!! And look at everything you have to look forward to… that view alone would capture my heart. I’m with you on access to good food stores and the availability of fresh produce (I’ve never been able to walk in ‘fancy’ shoes – I’m in running/hiking shoes or bare feet 90% of the time!). Good luck with all of your preparations Sally; I’m thinking of you.

Have I turned into a bad blogger? Or at least, a bad “replier”?
I will have to resort to a general reply to all comments, big thank you to all of you, I’ll keep the blog going at a simmer for a while, with several posts already written and scheduled to go independent of the chaos surrounding my life 😉
Once the stormy times pass, I will go back to devoting the appropriate attention to comments!
(yeap, the running routes are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, and I found a great store called Manhattan Runners, run by two graduates from OSU, Stillwater,OK! – I bought a new pair of Vibram five fingers after trying several at their place… can hardly wait to resume barefoot HILL running! YEAAAAAH, BABY!)

Looks like a wonderful place to settle your lives, Sally. I’m so glad you’ll be able to have all those fresh goodies everyday. Can’t wait to see your new home, I’m sure you’ll introduce us to your new kitchen, as soon as it will be ready to receive visitors 🙂
ps: dandelions are too bitter for my taste, I’m curious if you two will be friends 🙂 wait and see 🙂
millions of hugs and take care! miss you everyday.
